Sanitation Mapping

In Indonesia, households are primarily responsible for basic sanitation. Currently, sanitation for about 73% of urban households consists of septic tanks, most of which do not function properly, while a lack of investment, oversight and regulation by local government means that proper disposal of sludge is rare. In addition, there is frequently a lack of interest in sanitation issues on the part of households. In helping to overcome these problems, ESP will address the following aspects: Sanitation Mapping This is the first step on the road to improving sanitation, and involves identifying the sources of pollutants from domestic waste, small and medium industries, and other activities that could cause water pollution and damage the environment. This will help decision makers set priorities for sanitation programs over the short to medium term
