In Aceh, ESP will prioritize community-based coastal rehabilitation work with strategically chosen communities located near environmentally-sensitive hot spots along the Banda Aceh to Meulaboh road corridor. This includes communities living near significant tracts of primary forest, along major river crossings or embankments, near fragile wetlands, and by coastal areas with significant fringing coral reefs.

Over the course of this work plan, ESP targets 5 community-based coastal rehabilitation activities and 15 over the life of project. These activities will be implemented in the same communities as many Service Delivery activities,.

ESP will also strive to work in communities, and collaborate closely with, other USAID efforts focusing on service provision and community recovery. This includes but is not limited to HSP and CBR. Collaboration will start with site identification, and include joint implementation of activities to ensure deepened impact.
